Abstract
Cooperative manager Elmer L. Kreger started the Farmers Elevator Service Company (FELCO ) in 1926, with the idea that if elevator companies would cooperate in purchasing farm supplies in large units, substantial savings could be gained for their customers. Eventually the cooperative handled a full line of farm supplies. FELCO later merged with the Nebraska Farmers Union State Exchange, becoming the Farmers Regional Cooperative. Abstract
The Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI) was formed in 1985 to "help Iowa farmers share information and experience about biological and low-cost farming techniques." This collection contains brochures and flyers for various Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI) programs and workshops. These include field days, on-site farm research from the Thompson farm, and the articles of incorporation and original notice.
