The collection (1914-1963, undated) contains biographical information, correspondence, a paper presented at the National Drainage Conference, transcripts of radio addresses broadcast over WOI radio, and writings related to soil and water conservation using agricultural engineering. In addition, the papers include photographs of steam shovels, trenching machinery, and grading machinery. There are also photographs of the Iowa Civilian Conservation Corps soil conservation projects.
W. Wallace Ashby was an instructor (1913-1914) in agricultural engineering at Iowa State College (University). The collection contains Ashby's scrapbook and departmental correspondence. The scrapbook contains black and white photographs of Iowa State student life, campus buildings, and the Ames community.
This collection (1953-1978, undated) contains a biographical information and research reports. The reports relate to conservation tillage and chemical and cultural methods of weed management and pest control. The papers also contain a small amount of correspondence with the Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Company and a presentation about water pollution from crop production.
