Albert Eugene Freeman papers
This collection (1955-2001) contains Albert Eugene Freeman’s correspondence, details of the dairy husbandry work completed and taught by Freeman, as well as information about the Iowa State University Dairy Farm outside of Ankeny, Iowa.
Arthur L. Anderson papers
Arthur Laurence Anderson was a Professor of Animal Science at Iowa State University from 1920 until 1970. Anderson was an expert on livestock production and swine judging. This collection includes biographical information, correspondence, and manuscript revisions for his textbook Introductory Animal Husbandry.
Ernest Friend Davis Iowa State College memorabilia
This collection (1906-1973) contains college memorabilia, a college scrapbook, class reunion materials, photographs, postcards, and two stock certificates for the Colonnades (a local fraternity). College memorabilia includes track and field programs, handbills, and programs for literary, debate, and music events.

This collection consists of materials related to the Department of Animal Science. Records include news clippings, annual reports, brochures, newsletters, publications, student reviews, subject files, biographical files, poultry science records, course materials, Meat Export Research Center records, and faculty and staff papers.
Jay L. Lush papers
The collection (1918-1985, undated) contains many of Lush’s published scientific journal articles, notes on his research in animal breeding, reel-to-reel audio tapes of lectures, and animal husbandry class notes. In addition, the collection includes swine related USDA publications, notes from his speaking engagements, and professional and student correspondence. There are also slides from national and international travels and Lush family photographs in the collection.
Phineas Stephens Shearer papers
The collection contains biographical information and articles written by Shearer. In addition, the papers contain “The History of the Animal Science Department” and the research materials he collected in order to write this history. These documents include lists of graduates and faculty members and information regarding alumni.
William A. Craft papers
This collection (1937-1966, undated) contains biographical information, writings on hog raising and the development of the field of animal husbandry into animal science, one folder of correspondence, research notes on swine, teaching materials from graduate animal husbandry/science courses (1950s-1960s), and one folder of materials from Jay Lush’s seminar, “Quantitative Genetics.”
Wise Burroughs papers
This collection (1911-1994, undated) contains the papers of Dr. Wise Burroughs. The papers consist of biographical information, research materials, patent applications, publications and presentations. The collection also includes correspondence, court documents, and information about Dawe’s Laboratories Inc., Eli Lilly and Merck pertaining to Dr. Burroughs’ research on DES (Diethylstilbestrol).
