Celestia Lee Barker papers

Scope and Content

The main focus of this collection is Celestia Lee Barker's journal, which she began in 1863 at the age of 17. She wrote consistently in the journal from 1863 to 1866, documenting the events of her daily life. There are only occasional entries after 1866. These later entries, written on birthdays or anniversaries, relate to the Barker's marriage and family.

John Thomas Winborn and Winborn family papers

Scope and Content This collection (1909-1985) includes farm and business records and two manuscripts written by members of the Winborn family. The majority of the farm records are J. T. Winborn’s ledgers from the time he began farming in 1909 until 1938, when he formed a partnership with his four older children (Everett, Lucille, Milton, and Walter). Joseph C. Reasoner papers

Scope and Content

The collection (1964-1975, undated) contains oral history transcripts and small farm tools. The original audio tapes are not included in the collection. The taped reminiscences from 1965 and 1966 were originally done for Reasoner’s grandchildren, so that the family would have a record of what farm life was like when Reasoner was a boy. The later interviews were done specifically for Iowa State University's Department of Special Collections.
