Abstract George Knaphus (1924-2000), a native of Iowa, served during World War II and received the Bronze Star. He graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) in 1949; earned an M.S. (1951) and Ph.D. (1964) in Plant Pathology from Iowa State University.
