Abstract Charles F. Curtiss (1863-1947) served as the first Dean (1902-1932) of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University. A graduate of Iowa State, Curtiss was a respected livestock breeder and agriculturist. During his tenure at Iowa State, Curtiss was instrumental in developing the four-year curriculum in agriculture. Scope and Content

The Shambaugh Papers consist mainly of information written about Jessie Field Shambaugh and her pioneering efforts to create the 4-H movement. There is a cassette tape of a slide presentation entitled, “Jessie Field, Mother of 4-H,” two additional cassette tapes of a speech and interview with Shambaugh, photographs of Shambaugh as well as photographs of a watch given to her in 1911, and scrapbooks.

Abstract Martin Luther Mosher is credited as the first county extension agent for the state of Iowa, appointed in 1912 and serving in Clinton County. Mosher received a B.A. (1905) and an honorary M.A. (1915) from Iowa State University. He worked under Perry G. Holden at Iowa State and traveled on the Corn Train Special in 1905.
