Scope and Content

This collection contains a vita, articles, and publications. There are two articles published in 1986, titled, “Basis of Life-Cycle Costing” and Evaluating Project Alternatives by Rate of Return and Present Worth.” Also included are thirty-four publications, spanning the years, 1962-1986. The topics include analysis of food service, inventory management, energy conservation analysis, and ventilation requirements of hospitals.

Geraldine M. Montag was born in 1926 and received her B.A. (1947) from the University of Western Ontario and her M.A. (1963) and Ph.D (1966) from Iowa State University. She has been employed as a Research Associate (1965-1966); Assistant Professor (1966-1967); Associate Professor (1967-1973) and is currently a Professor (1973- ) as well as Interim Chair (1993-1995) of the Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department. Montag has received numerous Iowa State awards and honors and belongs to the honorary societies of Sigma Xi and Alpha Pi Mu, among others. Her publications and research have focused on risk analysis, life-cycle costing, engineering economy, methods analysis, and work measurement.
