Henry H. Webster was born on January 12, 1930 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He received his B.S. (1952) in General Forestry from the University of New York, M.F. (1956) from the University of Michigan, and Ph. D. (1960) in Forest Economics from the University of Michigan. His professional experience included the positions of Forest Economist (1953-1963) for the United States Forest Service, Visiting Lecturer (1962) for the University of Minnesota, and Associate Professor of Forestry (1963-1964) for the University of Wisconsin. He served at Iowa State University as the Head of the Forestry Department (1967-1975).
