W. W. Gingles ledger books
Scope and Content
This collection (1899-1941) contains five ledger books documenting the business transactions of the W. W. Gingles farm and medical practice. The ledger books record the income generated from the sale of agricultural goods such as hogs, cattle, poultry, honey, corn, and hay as well as the income he earned through his medical practice. The books also document business, farm, and household expenses such as automobile repairs, coal, food, gasoline, laundry, shoes, and taxes. The two earliest books record transactions involving the breeding and sale of horses.

Biography/Profile
W. W. Gingles owned and operated a farm near Ute in Monona County, Iowa. He was also a practicing physician with an office in nearby Castana, Iowa. Dr. Gingles received his medical degree in 1890 from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
