Scope and Content

This collection contains the organizational records of the Iowa State University Family and Consumer Sciences Alumni Association. The activities of the Executive Board / Committee represent most of the collection's documents. Planning for the annual meeting is the primary duty of this group. They are also charged with awarding scholarships to students in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. The Executive Committee develops continuing education for their members and promote new developments in the field of Home Economics as well. History files, correspondence, annual meeting minutes and programs, secretary's notebooks, publications, committee reports, financial records, subject files, and photographs are included.

Biography/Profile

The Iowa State University Home Economics Alumni Association was organized in 1964. The name of the group was changed to the Iowa State University Family and Consumer Sciences Alumni Association (ISUFCSAA) in 1987 when the name of the college was changed. Its purpose is to help alumni: 1) provide scholarships for students, 2) plan continuing education for alumni, 3) keep current with new developments in home economics and the College of Family and Consumer Sciences, 4) nominate outstanding alumni for recognition and 5) renew college friendships and make new acquaintances. Membership is open to all graduate of the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. The group is governed by an Executive Committee, whose members are elected at the annual meeting. Executive Committee meetings are held four times a year or at the option of the Chair in Ames, Iowa. Annual meetings are held each June for the membership in Ames, Iowa.
