Scope and Content

This collection (1913-[ongoing]) contains photograph albums, annual binders, membership directories, publications, newspaper clippings, correspondence, paintings, audiotapes, and videotapes. The photograph albums contain images of the organization's yearly philanthropic and school related activities. The annual binders are essentially yearbooks documenting the fraternity's activities throughout the year and consist of newspaper clippings, photographs, mission statements, information on philanthropic events, alumni, campus involvement, and events at Iowa State. The publications include membership directories and books written by alumni. The collection also contains numerous volumes of the Eta Crescent newsletter.

Biography/Profile

The Eta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR) was established at Iowa State College (University) in 1914. The founding members of the AGR club sought the existence of an agricultural based fraternity on campus. They chose to join Alpha Gamma Rho, a national organization started at the University of Ohio and University of Illinois that matched their interests and purpose. Through the fraternity, members engage in community service and activity, philanthropy, and education.
