Biography/Profile

Harry Warren Paine was born on March 17, 1890, to Mr. and Mrs. Warren Allen Paine of Eagle Grove, Iowa. Paine received both his B.S. (1912) in mechanical engineering and his M.E. (1928) from Iowa State College (University). From an early age, Paine had a strong affinity for automobiles. Even the entry in his college yearbook identified his love of cars and engines. His master's thesis, titled A Survey of the Boys' Technical High School of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the Organization of Its Automotive Department, and a patent he received related to engine design both testify to this interest.

After his graduation, Paine moved to Toledo, Ohio, where he served as Director of the Vocational Teacher Improvement Service for Northwest Ohio and also as Associate Professor of Vocational Education at the University of Toledo. Paine married Ruby Lockhart DeForest. He died June 1976 in Plant City, Florida.
