Scope and Content

The collection (1944-1951, undated) contains course notes and textbooks from O'Brien's time at Iowa State in the institution management program. The collection also contains various Iowa State memorabilia, including O'Brien's Delta Delta Delta sorority information and a song book of Iowa State songs. The collection also contains original patterns and a dress designed by O'Brien, which are housed in the artifact collection.

M. (Mary) Joan Kilty O'Brien of Stillwater, Minnesota, received her B.S. (1949) from Iowa State College (University) in institution management. During her time at Iowa State, O'Brien was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority, the Home Economics Club, the Newman Club, the VEISHEA committee, and the Student Properties Board. She was also a member of the Red Cross Executive Council and the Associated Association of Picnic Lovers. She also graduated with honors. She currently (as of 2010) resides in St. Paul, Minnesota.
