Biography/Profile
The Agricultural Engineering Women’s Club evolved out of a gathering of wives of faculty members of the Iowa State College (University), Department of Agricultural Engineering. Jennie Davidson, wife of J.B. Davidson (Head of the Agricultural Engineering Department, 1910-1915 and 1919-1946) started the informal meetings. By 1946, the club became more structured under the direction of Cooney Beresford, wife of Hobart Beresford (Head of the Agricultural Engineering Department, 1946-1962). The club provided a social outlet for the wives of faculty members, female faculty members, female staff members, and female graduate students. The club held meetings and hosted an annual Christmas party.
