Scope and Content
This collection contains notes and lectures from classes as well as examples dealing with home furnishings and color usage. There is also lots of material pertaining to the 4H girl’s club and home improvement and home furnishing, as well as information and scrapbooks from Kunau’s many trips abroad.

Biography/Profile
Emelda Leota Kunau was born in Sabula, Iowa on April 18, 1905. She received a B.S. from Iowa State College (1924?) studying Applied Art and Botany. From 1924 to 1941 she taught high school home economics before becoming that county extension home economist for Howard and Chickasaw Counties in 1941. Miss Kunau later joined the Iowa State faculty in 1949 as extension specialist in applied art. She also attended a few classes at the Universities of Chicago and Tennessee and was awarded a scholarship to attend the Human Development workshop in Ithaca, NY. Emelda did most of her work with the 4H club dealing with home furnishings, music and recreation. She has also done some radio and television work. Miss Kunau is a member of the Iowa Historical Society, American Association of University Women, the Iowa Home Economics Association, Epsilon Sigma Phi and Order of Eastern Star. Her publications include Manuals, books, workbooks and articles on 4H as well as leaflets and publications on television and radio.
